I landed in Canada at the end of 2008, just when the financial crisis hit, and found myself no being able to even make an interview: newcomer, no Canadian experience, and I probably became the first person who worked remotely from home, on my role in Caracas, travelling on my own expense when needed. But when the time came, I had to quit and focus on my search for a new job in Canada. After one year had passed, desperate, on a negative spiral, I walked into one of ACCES Employments Services offices in Toronto, I started my journey and successful transitioning into the workforce in Canada, finally finding an amazing opportunity at HP Canada. The tools I received included working with a Mentor from TRIEC Toronto Region Immigrant Employment Council which truly made the difference for me. A few years later I decided to start volunteering with the same organizations that helped me. Today I feel privileged with the opportunity of helping newcomers, marketing, and sales professionals in their integration process in the workforce and their new lives in Canada. Volunteering is a true Canadian Value I cherish, as we all need each other’s help to make this transition with Positive attitude, learning to Network and being Job ready.
